Native Revolution

 

The Yates design was created for a campaign to promote and encourage Australians to plant native, rather than introduced, species.  My inspiration came from old propaganda posters, predominantly from Soviet Russian times.  The Russian revolution was the inspiration for the name and tagline.  I just liked the idea of Aussie native plants uprising and asking the nation to help them fight introduced species.  Which sounds kind of strange in a way, but I think it gets the message across in an interesting way.  It’s a campaign from the plants’ point of view.  They can’t stand up for themselves so we have to.  These pieces were created using Photoshop and Illustrator.
